Combi vs system vs regular (heat-only) boilers
A combi heats water on demand from the mains — no cylinder, no header tank, compact and ideal for 1-3 bedroom homes with one bathroom. A system boiler uses a sealed unvented cylinder for stored hot water — better for larger homes with multiple simultaneous hot water draws. A regular (heat-only) boiler uses a vented cylinder and header tank in the loft — the classic setup for many older properties. The right answer depends on hot water demand, number of bathrooms, mains pressure and existing pipework — not on what's cheapest.
